In its statement, the administration emphasizes that it is continuously monitoring the situation on a local scale but will not, for the time being, implement any across-the-board cuts to daycare or school capacity. Instead, starting at the end of the decade, space becoming available in elementary schools is to be used for expanding full-day programs, language support, and differentiated instruction. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cThe numbers speak for themselves: The ongoing decline in the birth rate is not a temporary phenomenon, but a structural reality that policymakers must address. It\u2019s good that the city administration is closely monitoring developments on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis and plans to use spaces that become available in the future to improve the quality of services\u2014such as full-day care. Given the current trends, however, we must also plan for the future and ask ourselves what else we can do to make Karlsruhe more attractive for families with children: For us, this includes, above all, affordable housing for families with multiple children, well-equipped educational institutions, and a pleasant urban environment. These factors can be positively influenced by policymakers. Our goal would be to reverse the downward trend in birth rates over the next few years.\" <\/p>\n\n
In light of the widely fluctuating figures across the city\u2019s districts, F\u00dcR Karlsruhe calls for dynamic and transparent needs-based planning.
