The aim is to attract companies that need hydrogen to Karlsruhe and to further strengthen Karlsruhe as a location for innovation. Hydrogen will be one of the energy sources of the future, especially for commercial and industrial operations. The city council group is convinced that Karlsruhe should set the course now to create a commercial and industrial area with a hydrogen connection. The proximity to the Rhine port is a possible location here.<\/p>\n\n<p>The application includes the demand for a stronger integration into the hydrogen strategy of the state of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg and a connection of the region to the hydrogen network. The findings and requirements gathered are intended to inform further discussions and planning with regard to hydrogen in Karlsruhe. The city council group would also like the administration and municipal utilities to proactively approach potential hydrogen suppliers and providers in order to secure future requirements at an early stage. This will also enable Karlsruhe to establish itself as a location for hydrogen-intensive industries:<br\/>&#8220;Germany is full of positive examples of how a residential district or an industrial area can be connected to the hydrogen network to be supplied with energy in an environmentally friendly way. We see hydrogen as a technology of the future and hope that Karlsruhe will not oversleep the future. It is important to us that the city administration takes action and exhausts its options. The state of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg has a hydrogen strategy &#8211; we need one too.
