According to the city administration, there are no known incidents in Karlsruhe in which homeless people have been victims of violence. “This information is a relief. Last year, there were repeated reports of violence against homeless people. Fortunately, this does not seem to be the case in Karlsruhe,” says City Councillor Friedemann Kalmbach. <\/p>\n\n
In addition, the current number of homeless people in the city was estimated at around 50. This survey is part of the overall homeless assistance concept, which is regularly updated and bundles comprehensive support services for homeless people. The city of Karlsruhe offers a diverse support system that includes safe places to sleep in homeless shelters as well as special offers in the context of frost protection. The homeless assistance measures are reviewed and further developed every two years. The next update of the concept will be discussed in the social committee in the summer. <\/p>\n\n
In order to protect homeless people and offer them long-term prospects, the city administration works closely with social institutions and the police. For many years, regular case discussions have been held between the specialist homelessness support unit and the social agencies, focusing primarily on people who are at risk of losing their accommodation due to conspicuous behavior. In addition, a working group was set up at the end of 2024, consisting of the police, public order office, social and youth welfare authorities and social agencies. This group is looking for joint solutions for conspicuous people in public spaces and has already held its first case discussions. <\/p>\n\n
