  1. The administration examines variants for the installation of water areas in Otto Dullenkopf Park and presents variants to the municipal council for voting. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The administration includes in the variant tests the scenario proposed as a compromise by the B\u00fcrgerverein Oststadt and the B\u00fcrgergesellschaft S\u00fcdstadt, which envisages the dismantling of 50% of the current halls in 10 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The Administration shall investigate the minimum size and depth of a lake that will result in a climatic impact on adjacent residential areas and result in a natural limnological condition and present the results to the Community Council.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

    Reason<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

    In the original competition for Otto Dullenkopf Park, a design with a lake that would also bring refreshment to the eastern city through the fresh air corridor won. The design with lake has since been rejected by the administration.The reason for this is that the substance of the former bus halls is worth preserving and they can be used for children and youth work. Thus, fortunately, a relocation from Area C can also happen. We welcome this use. Nevertheless, we ask the administration to consider and examine the compromise proposal of the resident citizens’ associations, because it is already becoming clear that certain groups would like a different location for their work in the future.<\/p>\n\n

    However, in view of the climatic changes in our city, heat reduction measures must also be implemented – as also envisaged by the climate adaptation strategy. This also includes water surfaces or standing water, which cools the surrounding air by evaporation and can thus lower the air temperature by 1\u00b0C or more in the surrounding area. The water surfaces could be circulated by fountains and increase the effect of evaporation in the air.<\/p>\n\n

    Especially in view of the climatic changes for our city, water areas for cooling are becoming more and more urgent. The B\u00fcrgerverein Oststadt is also in favor of keeping a water area in the plans.<\/p>\n\n

    For this reason, our counting group is asking for consideration of a compromise that would allow water features in Otto Dullenkopf Park. This could be made possible by appropriate sizes, or spreading smaller or two water areas. This does not have to be drinking water, but for example. collected rainwater.<\/p>\n\n

    This will allow the city to further contribute in heat mitigation and climate adaptation.<\/p>\n\n
