  1. The City Council is re-evaluating sites for a dry anaerobic digester in the City or County in cooperation with Karlsruhe County and determining the total gas yield and evaluating the contribution to gas generation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The municipality is examining at what earliest possible date an exit from the existing contracts of the current award is possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The city government is looking into state and federal funding opportunities for biogas plants.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

    Reason<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

    In the years from 2009\/10, the construction of a dry fermentation plant on Karlsruhe territory was already being examined. Finally, in 2014, it was decided to transport the biowaste generated in Karlsruhe to dry fermentation plants outside of Karlsruhe. A logistical challenge and also climatically questionable due to the transport.<\/p>\n\n

    In view of the current international developments, the possible deficits in the field of energy, especially gas, further solutions are needed for the city of Karlsruhe. One component is an own dry fermentation plant in the Karlsruhe city or district. The city is looking for an exchange with the district of Karlsruhe and the local communities and cities in order to create a joint dry fermentation plant if possible. This eliminates the allocation and transport to Fl\u00f6rsheim-Wicker or Bietigheim. Also, higher capture rates could be achieved through a joint approach to enable economical operation.<\/p>\n\n

    The contract with the bidder of the 2014 tender runs until 2036, from which time a suitable transition to biowaste recycling in Karlsruhe could be created.<\/p>\n\n

    As shown in the Energy Atlas of the State Institute for the Environment of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg (2022), a biogas plant is an obvious choice for the Karlsruhe area.<\/p>\n\n
