Unfortunately, at the December 10, 2019 council meeting, the council agreed to &#8220;forgo trees for now.&#8221; Subsequent summers clearly showed that this was initially an oversight. The local council has the chance to have trees planted now on the possible sites that have already been examined.<\/p>\n\n<p>In April 2022, our group addressed the responsible department in this regard in an open letter. The response stated that the City of Karlsruhe submitted a &#8220;City Transformation&#8221; grant application in February for the &#8220;Sustainable City Centers and Downtowns&#8221; project to promote innovative concepts to strengthen resilience and crisis management in cities and towns, which includes shading elements in the marketplace.
