City Councillor Friedemann Kalmbach (FÜR Karlsruhe) emphasizes: “Company housing is an effective means of attracting and retaining specialists in early childhood education. They not only offer a solution to the housing shortage, but also stability and security for employees.” A similar proposal was already made in the 2023 budget negotiations, but was referred to the committees. Now is the time to take concrete action. The conceptual design should cover aspects such as location, apartment size and rent pricing and ensure that clear regulations are in place when employment ends.
“It is in the interests of the city of Karlsruhe to ensure the quality of early childhood education in the long term and at the same time create attractive working conditions for educational staff,” Kalmbach continued.
The city council group “Freie Wähler” and “FÜR Karlsruhe” hopes for broad support in the municipal council to implement this important measure to secure skilled workers.
