Following criticism of the lack of connection to the KVV rail and bus network in Südstadt Ost, the municipal council group the Free Voters and the Voters’ Group FOR Karlsruhe is submitting a motion to this effect. Until the connection of the planned railroad line as a gap closure in the Stuttgarter Straße, a few more years will go by, according to the group, after which the operation will also incur costs. In the opinion of the group, there is nothing against a bus line for the interim.
“We have to take the criticism of the civil society very seriously,” says groupFriedemann Kalmbach, “that’s why we propose a test run with one bus.” The group also hopes that the test operation will provide figures on the utilization of the route section and alleviate the poor connection of the young district.
The motion, which addresses the concerns of the people in the district, will be pre-considered in the technical committee.
