In the latest episode of its podcast, the electoral group FÜR Karlsruhe focuses on the topic of tourism in the fan-shaped city. Under the title “City Tax and World Games: How Karlsruhe fills beds”, City Councillor Friedemann Kalmbach and Micha Schlittenhardt talk to Pascal Rastetter, Managing Director of Karlsruher Tourismus GmbH, about the opportunities and challenges for Karlsruhe as a tourist destination.
The focus will be on current developments such as the introduction of the city tax, its use for sustainable tourism promotion and the role of major events such as the World Games for the city’s image. Topics such as the bed tax, science tourism, cultural highlights such as the ZKM and the Schlosslichtspiele, as well as Karlsruhe’s attractiveness as a tourist destination in the middle of a strong economic region will also be discussed.
Everyone agrees that tourism is an important location factor – for the image of the city as well as for gastronomy, hotels and culture. FÜR Karlsruhe is therefore committed to the targeted use of revenue from the city tax – for the benefit of citizens and guests alike.
The episode is now available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and all common podcast platforms.
