Local politics in the city of Karlsruhe is the focus of a new book that sheds light on the complex challenges of local politics: “Stadt gestalten – Sieben Herausforderungen der Kommunalpolitik” is the result of a collaboration between authors Marius Meger and Micha Schlittenhardt. The book is edited by Karlsruhe city councillors Friedemann Kalmbach, Petra Lorenz and Jürgen Wenzel.

Karlsruhe is often described as an innovative and sustainable city. However, it also faces the challenges of a global and complex world, which also shape local politics. This book focuses on seven such challenges and describes the solutions adopted by the city council group of the Free Voters and the “FÜR Karlsruhe” voters’ group in Karlsruhe’s municipal council. The work of the city council group in the current legislature serves as the basis for the content of this book.

The book shows that it is worth getting involved in your local community: You can make a real difference in local politics. Nevertheless, you won’t find a promotional text in this book, but an honest insight into the work of local politics.
