The Free Voters and FÜR Karlsruhe municipal council group presented together with the Karlsruher Liste, as well as the SPD and FDP a intergroup motion to use the site of the former tobacco factory / ROTAG for the cultural scene. “With the newly created area of the ROTAG site, the city can make a decisive contribution to supporting bands, cabaret, visual arts and dance, especially in these times of crisis,” remarked municipal council group leader Jürgen Wenzel.
In recent years, the artists have lost more and more space. In addition to financial support, cultural workers should be offered rooms that are as cheap as possible and tailored to the needs of the artists. Therefore, the cultural scene should be able to influence the design of the premises in order to turn the usable space into a place of work and creativity.
