Editorial
With regard to the future energy supply and the need to counteract climate change, we as the city council group of the Free Voters and the voters’ group FOR Karlsruhe advocate a technology-open and CO2-neutral energy policy.
In doing so, it is important to us to take existing human and financial resources into account and to develop realistic scenarios.
At the same time, it is fundamentally important to us to find solutions that involve the affected citizens, do not overburden them financially and enable them to have a sustainable future.
We are convinced that an open-technology approach to the energy transition is crucial in order to find the best possible solutions.
It is important to examine the various options and then select those that are the most efficient and sustainable.
In doing so, we should consider both renewable energy and innovative technologies such as hydrogen or other green gases.
At the same time, we recognize that the transition to a carbon-neutral energy supply requires significant resources.
It is important to realistically assess the available human and financial capacities and to take appropriate measures to use these resources efficiently.
This is the only way we can ensure that our plans and goals are feasible and successful in the long term.
We are also committed to finding solutions that involve the citizens affected.
The energy transition must not be at the expense of the people, but should instead offer them new opportunities and prospects.
We are committed to ensuring that the interests and needs of citizens are incorporated into the planning process and that appropriate solutions are developed to take their concerns into account.
In this position paper, we will therefore address the draft energy master plan of the City of Karlsruhe and formulate concrete proposals and recommendations to achieve a technology-neutral, CO2-neutral energy supply that takes existing resources into account and offers solutions for the citizens affected.
