The refurbishment of the Badisches Staatstheater with expansion of the area is currently advertised and commissioned. Proposals that are due to the explosion in costs from originally 125 million to over 508 million euros are a new building at the same location and a new building at a different location. For example, the CDU faction brought a new building on the measuring site. The deletion of a division and downsizing of the building is also under discussion.

However, a complete interim solution is required, which could be shorter in time than the partial interim solution of the renovation.
