The “FÜR Karlsruhe” voter group is pleased that the city administration now provides comprehensive and direct information on its website about the proper course of action in the event of a crisis, as well as about key points of contact. The relevant emergency hotlines and emergency assembly points have been clearly listed in the menu on the homepage. With this move, the city is taking an important step toward greater transparency and public education for its citizens—a goal the voter group has long advocated for.

The “FÜR Karlsruhe” voter group has been working intensively for quite some time to bring about a fundamental shift in civil protection. The goal must be to make Karlsruhe resilient, interconnected, and prepared for the future. In addition to technical precautions and the expansion of redundant communication channels, this primarily involves providing transparent information to the public so that, in an emergency, every citizen knows where the nearest emergency assembly points or emergency reporting centers are located.

City Councilman Friedemann Kalmbach of the FÜR Karlsruhe political group emphasizes:
“It is a very positive and important step that the City of Karlsruhe has now given the topic of crisis preparedness such a prominent and citizen-friendly place on its website. Transparency and information are the foundation of a resilient and robust urban community. As the FÜR Karlsruhe caucus, we have long called for a comprehensive strengthening of civil protection and the coordination of all stakeholders. Now we must consistently continue down this path and prepare Karlsruhe for all crisis scenarios.”

In this context, the voter group also refers to the recent nationwide Warning Day held on September 10, 2026, during which—in addition to the mix of technical warning systems and siren installations—the practical setup of emergency response centers, such as the one at the Reinhold-Crocoll-Halle in Knielingen, was demonstrated. FÜR Karlsruhe will continue to work constructively and critically within the city council to ensure that civil protection in our “fan-shaped city” is advanced with the necessary priority.
