The city administration is drawing up a framework plan for motorized private transport in the city centre, in which traffic calming measures and further redesigns of the streets and transport services, as well as the car-free city centre, are incorporated into an overall concept.
Reason
Many pedestrians who move between Europaplatz, Kaiserstraße and Ludwigsplatz would like to see the city center calmed by motorized traffic. In the future, however, delivery traffic and access to local practices must also be taken into account. As the citizens’ association rightly demands, the measures must be incorporated into an overall concept for Karlsruhe city center, as in Karlstrasse as a well-known north-south axis. This can be taken into account for the implementation of further measures in the future and offers perspectives and paths for all forms of mobility for a sustainable, accessible city center.
