  1. What alternatives to the planning presented were examined with regard to the routing of the cycle lane?
  2. Have Eisenlohrstrasse, Weinbrennerstrasse and Sophienstrasse been examined as alternative cycle routes, and if so, what are the arguments against routing the cycle path through these streets?
  3. Have counts been taken of the number of cyclists on the section of road, and if so, how many cyclists ride there every day and at what times?
  4. Was the citizens’ association informed and involved in the planning of the draft now presented in advance, and if so, when?
  5. How is the safety of pedestrians guaranteed on this long and straight section? Residents step directly onto the sidewalk, without a front garden or similar, as in Reinhold-Frank-Straße, for example.
    1. Is a dividing strip (e.g. kerb stone or grid) provided between the footpath and cycle path?
  6. How many residents’ cars are registered and how many parking spaces are there now?
  7. How many parking spaces are already occupied purely by residents and how many parking spaces have to be used in the surrounding area?
    1. What increase in parking spaces does the administration expect if only residents’ parking is possible in the side streets?
  8. Which and where should there be stopping facilities for suppliers and parcel services?
    1. How many parking spaces are required?
  9. Are short-term parking spaces planned for customers of businesses and e.g. care services, if so, where and to what extent?

Reason

In the course of the planned reconstruction of Kriegsstraße and the Hübschstraße stop, it is important to us, the municipal council group Freie Wähler and the voter group FÜR Karlsruhe, to involve local residents appropriately in the planning process. The experiences and perspectives of local residents are invaluable for a holistic and citizen-oriented design of public space. For this reason, specific questions that not only address technical aspects, but above all focus on the concerns and worries of local residents, must be clarified as comprehensively as possible. The participation of local residents is an essential building block for successful and sustainable urban development, and we are counting on their insights being actively incorporated into planning decisions.
