FÜR Karlsruhe has submitted a request to the city administration to examine the possibilities of using artificial intelligence (AI) in the administration. The aim is to clarify how AI can help to streamline and optimize administrative processes.
“The city administration is facing major challenges due to a lack of skilled workers and lengthy processes. Artificial intelligence can be a means of making the administration more efficient and at the same time relieving the burden on employees. We would like to know whether and how Karlsruhe is taking advantage of these opportunities,” explains City Councillor Friedemann Kalmbach (FÜR Karlsruhe)
In view of the shortage of skilled workers and numerous unfilled positions in the city administration, the question arises as to whether the targeted use of AI could provide relief and shorten processing times. Many administrative processes are time-consuming and tie up human resources, so AI could be a solution for standardized tasks in particular.
In the request, FÜR Karlsruhe asks the city administration to answer the following questions:
1. What possibilities does the Karlsruhe city administration see for using AI to optimize administrative processes?
2. Is AI seen as a solution to the existing staff shortage?
3. Are there already considerations or concrete projects in which AI is being tested or used?
4. In which areas does the administration see the greatest potential for AI, and where are clear boundaries drawn?
5. What legal concerns exist regarding the use of AI in sensitive administrative processes?
FÜR Karlsruhe is committed to a citizen-oriented, transparent and modern city administration. The answers from the city administration will provide information on whether Karlsruhe is already taking steps towards a digitally supported administration or whether there is still a need for action.
