With two applications, the parliamentary group of free voters and the voter group FOR Karlsruhe drew attention to the appreciation of the volunteer citizens. One of the motions was also on the agenda of the Volunteering Forum in Südwerk.

“In addition to the badges of honor and certificates, as well as visits to anniversaries, we were looking for a way to encourage volunteers and appreciate their work,” explains City Councilor Friedemann Kalmbach, who was able to gain a lot of experience in this area with the Nehemia Initiative. “During the exchange at the forum volunteering, it became clear to me that a form of appreciation can also be created by making it easier to deal with the authorities”.

The city administration is currently working on a concept that could go in this direction, the answer says: “The question of coordinating the administrative processes when applying for events in public space by non-profit associations and associations is related to the funding program “Events in the interest of the city as a whole – VigI” of the city treasury, which is currently developing a new concept.” There will also be an information event on the initiative of the state of Baden-Württemberg with a view to volunteering. The topic should be put back on the agenda.
